An “on-field” day, that is to say. San Pietro in Campo welcomed me for the seventh recall of the traditional treshing festival “Festa della Battitura del Grano”. Made invincible by my 5d all-weather tropicalization, i paved my way trough machines, wheat, wind, beer in a tourbillion of dust and grasses to catch the perfect shot (or something like that). Images were taken with a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens and with the support of the Canon Speedlite 430EX II flash (ETTL).
The Treshing Festival has been organized and managed by the Local Committee (Comitato Paesano) of San Pietro in Campo with the support of the Municipality and Comunità Montana della Media Valle del Serchio, with more than 40 historical tractors which filed through the streets of the town, and 5 chariots with at more than 50 appearing dressed in theme.
Core of the event has been the multipurpose field next to the church of San Pietro in Campo, where lunch and dinner took place. The highlight of the event took place around 15:00 when a thresher locomobile steam of year 1911, capable of a power of 40 hp has been operated.
